Music
At St. Andrew’s, we inspire a love of learning through music and are proud of our outstanding music curriculum and extracurricular activities. Music enhances all aspects of learning and personal growth and we hope to provide the foundations for a lifelong love of music.
We strive to enrich our children’s lives through music including a weekly song assembly, classroom music lessons and opportunities for every child to learn how to play a range of musical instruments including the recorder, xylophone, percussion and the ukelele.
Further opportunities are available for the children to learn instruments with a number of specialist teachers visiting each week. We have a wonderful school choir and orchestra with opportunities to perform with other schools in the local community.
At our school, music is part of our children’s daily life through:
- Music in the community
- Weekly classroom music lessons and song assemblies,
- Extracurricular music lessons
- St. Andrew's choir
- St. Andrew's orchestra
In addition to school based activities we also endeavour to provide wider performance opportunities with other schools and in the local community.
The Listening Project
At St. Andrew's, we use the Listening Project to help children develop their listening skills and broaden their musical experiences by exposing them to different genres and styles. If you'd like to listen at home, please find the map of pieces here.
